Toys and Books : Making the right choice

As a parent of a special needs child, you will know how important, yet often difficult, it is to find the right toy or book that appeals to your child and also helps their development in some way.

We have a great selection of toys click here and books click here which will help stimulate your child and, just as essentially, are also fun!  All these are available for loan.

Song Packs : Language through singing

All children love singing or hearing nursery rhymes. At the IWTLOG weekly session, we always end with songs and makaton(ish !) signs. We have recently acquired some lovely finger puppets and other props to allow the children to take part and they thoroughly enjoy this.

To help your singing sessions at home, we have made some pictures for you to take home.  These will help your child to choose the song he or she would like to sing and the sticky backed velcro pieces on certain songs will make them more interactive for them eg 10 fat sausages! Click here

Play ideas

Some ideas from parents that can be made at home to help with play and learning and some recommended less expensive shop bought games/puzzles.  Click here.

Other resources for you

Again, some ideas that have worked for me and other parents for a variety of topics and can be made at home. If anyone would like some help with these, come along to the Thursday session and I will be happy to provide some assistance. Click here
